Koken: A CMS for portfolio websites
Do you need to create a portfolio website for photographer, artists, designers or other creative people? Koken is a website publishing system (content management system, or CMS) developed specifically for showcasing works of photographers, designers, artists and creative DIYs.
Koken is a free and self-hosted CMS (PHP-MySQL) that is focused on building websites where portfolio/gallery is in the core (like designer or photographer sites). It was built for publishing images, videos and slideshows as fluid, responsive media elements. The CMS has a powerful media manager for uploading and organizing images and videos. It allows organizing items as categories, date captured, licence and more. Koken manages images and videos through a dedicated, desktop-like interface.
Koken CMS has a simple and flexible content editor that allows editing with live previews. Also, inserting media, slideshows or social content (like tweets, Flickr, Instagram and Vimeo) is possible.
It comes with six elegant minimal templates. You can also customize your web site’s style inside the in-built template console using simple style controls or write your own CSS.
That’s not all. You can publish your work instantly from Adobe Photoshop Lightroom. Koken comes with a free publish services plugin for Adobe Photoshop Lightroom that makes updating, editing and replacing content easy.
Koken is free and may be installed on your own web server if it supports PHP 5.2.0 or higher, MySQL 5 or higher and ImageMagick. You can use it to publish websites without any licence restriction: personal, commercial, non-commercial or non-profit websites. You can modify or extend the software for your own use, or hire someone to perform modifications, but may not resell, redistribute or transfer the modified version.
